You will also have to decide if you want to display your Twitter account on your LinkedIn Profile. See Figure 16–1 for your options. Some people prefer not to display their Twitter account on their profile, but they will choose to have their Tweets appear on their LinkedIn status by selecting the option under Sharing Tweets. If you add #li in your Tweets from Twitter, they will appear in your LinkedIn status.

You can also configure the Tweets app by going to More on the top LinkedIn toolbar and selecting Tweets. Go to the Settings tab and you can select Display all Tweets or Display only Tweets that include #in.

I discussed these options earlier in Chapter 5, “LinkedIn Privacy Settings,” when I showed you the advanced configuration settings. In the past, social media experts recommended connecting all your social media accounts together so you could automate your posting. You post once on Twitter and it blasts the same message to Facebook, LinkedIn, MySpace, your blog, and anywhere else you had an RSS connection.

Today, I recommend creating separate posts for each social media property because your LinkedIn connections are interested in different content from you than your Facebook friends. I don’t recommend mixing business and personal conversations online.

If you use Twitter exclusively for business, then it’s okay to select the Display all Tweets option as shown in Figure 16–2 on page 137. If you want to display only certain Tweets on LinkedIn, then select the second option and add #in to your Tweets.

Once you are in the Tweets app, you can see an overview of your Twitter account from the Overview tab. This tab is similar to being logged in to www.twitter.com. You see a list of the people you are following in the left column and the Twitter stream of the people you are following on the right side of the screen. You can Tweet directly from the top of the page.
